We are preparing for the new 19 March 2021 sector rules – in the meantime, Connecticut is currently in Phase 2.1 which allows for the operation of gyms and fitness studios providing that specific safety protocols are followed in order to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. We monitor the guidelines as posted by the State of Connecticut.

Whether you’re a current member, or looking to start out in your fitness journey, we understand that you may be both excited and nervous about moving forward in this “new normal” that is becoming our reality. At Guilford Athletic Center, we want to take the time to acknowledge your feelings, and to provide some insight on how we’re working to keep our community safe.

Masks

Currently, we ask everyone to wear a mask from the time you enter the building until the time you leave. Available for sale are mask bumpers that (mask inserts) that go under your mask to make it easy to breathe while you workout. Workouts may be modified to ensure safety.

Capacity Reduction & Social Distancing

We have reduced the number of participants for each class to ensure sufficient social distancing. In order to enforce this, we ask that you register for each class you plan to attend, using the PushPress app or through our website. In the event that you cannot attend a class you’ve registered for, please cancel your registration as soon as possible in order to allow any waitlisted members to attend.

Each member will have their own designated 10ft by 10ft workout area containing the equipment needed for the scheduled workout. Each designated workout area will be spaced 10-12 feet apart.

Ventilation

Members will have the opportunity to choose an indoor or outdoor workout area. The indoor workout area of the facility is approximately 3,000 square feet, with 50 foot high ceilings. The garage door and all other doors and windows will be open to allow for increased ventilation. Fans will be set on low and pointed away from members to increase air-flow as well.

Personal Protection & Symptom Tracking

We ask that you please arrive five minutes before the start of your scheduled class, wearing a facemask. When entering the facility through the front entrance, you’ll be greeted by a trainer wearing a face mask, who will take your temperature using a no-contact thermometer and ask a few COVID-19 symptom-related health questions. Once you’ve been cleared to enter the facility, you’ll be assigned a disinfectant kit and will proceed to your designated workout area.

Cleaning & Sanitization

To further ensure a clean and safe environment, we have a new, special cleaning fogger that will be used to clean equipment between classes and sanitizing dispenser stations on every wall. After each class, trainers will follow our clean-up protocol before allowing any members arriving for the next class to enter the indoor or outdoor spaces.

We understand this is difficult for everyone and we ask that you bear with us as we move forward with these new protocols with your safety in mind. We look forward to reconnecting with our current members, and welcoming new faces into our community.
